All Are Welcome
St. Hildegard’s Sanctuary is an affirming, arts-based, contemplative Christian community, grounded in a theology of aesthetics, informed by the belief that we are made in the image of a loving Creator, are by nature creative beings, and that creating connects us to the Creator – and beyond to the whole of the creation.
The felt experience of the Holy in the aesthetic has a long history of calling people to faith in God, life in community, and outreach in ministry. The community experiences, embodies, and communicates the love of Christ through creative practice, which is known to be both enlivening and grounding. Simply put: Art heals. Beauty enlivens. Community roots.
We gather Sunday afternoons at 5PM at St. Faith’s Anglican Church, 7284 Cypress Street (at 57th Avenue) Vancouver, BC.
During Sunday evening services, stations are set up around the worship space that offer creative practices with varying possibilities for engagement. Seeking the Creator for hope, healing, rest, and sustenance, we share poetry, create art, remember Jesus, share bread and wine, and extend the invitational love of God. Our liturgy, worship space, and practices are trauma-informed. We also have seasonal special events, which focus on exploration of diverse creative spiritual practices, with featured facilitators.
We live, work, play, and worship on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples including the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and Səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Our words and actions will reflect our awareness and appreciation of this, with respect and gratitude. Whether you call St. Hildegard’s home – or simply want to visit – you are welcome.
You do not have to identify as an artist to join in. Come as a beloved creation of God.
